ACPeds Releases Urgent New Factsheet Exposing Planned Parenthood as a Leading Provider of Sex-Rejecting Interventions

Atlanta, GA – Today, the American College of Pediatricians, in collaboration with the American Principles Project, released a crucial fact sheet for health care professionals, policymakers, and the public, “Planned Parenthood: One of America’s Largest Providers of Sex-Rejecting Procedures and Services.” This resource provides important facts and information on Planned Parenthood as a leading provider of sex-rejecting interventions, a primary distributor of gender ideology sex education, and a serious threat to patient safety.

The release of this document comes at a critical time. On July 5, 2026, Planned Parenthood will regain access to federal funding under the provisions of the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act unless Congress acts. With this resource, we hope to inform policymakers and urge Congress to examine important evidence regarding the harms and dangers of Planned Parenthood and remove any taxpayer funding from Planned Parenthood because it participates in the harming of minors. Most importantly, we seek to inform American families about these practices.

Dr. Jill Simons, ACPeds Executive Director, released the following statement:

“Planned Parenthood is one of the largest providers of sex-rejecting interventions to minors, including opposite-sex hormones and puberty blockers. Although polls show that a majority of Americans oppose taxpayer funding for these procedures, Planned Parenthood received approximately $832 million in taxpayer funding in 2024–2025. Unless Congress acts, Planned Parenthood is expected to continue receiving hundreds of millions more in federal funding.

With the release of our new fact sheet, we want to present evidence regarding Planned Parenthood’s harmful and life-threatening practices and urge Congress to defund them. Children, mothers, and families deserve safe and compassionate care that does not deprive them of informed consent or seek to impose ideological beliefs. They deserve better.”

Dr. Michelle Cretella, Chair of ACPeds Adolescent Sexuality Committee, added:

“Americans will be deeply dismayed to discover that Planned Parenthood operates more clinics providing sex-rejecting interventions to minors than ones providing abortions. Today, nearly 80% of their clinics offer sex-rejecting procedures nationwide—more than the number of locations that offer abortion services.

Some of these clinics exploit a legal loophole to affirm minors’ sex-identity distress without parental knowledge or consent. Strong concern regarding the irreversible impacts of these interventions has been growing among major health care institutions and is shared by those seeking to protect children, regardless of political affiliation.”
